The accreditation process developed by URAC is designed to assure that Independent Review Organizations (IRO) are free from conflicts of interest, establish qualifications for physician performing independent medical peer review, address medical necessity and experimental treatment issues, have reasonable time periods for standard and expedited peer reviews, and appeals processes.
As an IRO with URAC accreditation, CPHCR strives for a fair and impartial medical peer review process that benefits both patients and physicians.
Health plans and consumers can be confident that their appeals receive a comprehensive review and objective decision.
“By receiving URAC accreditation, Christopher Place Healthcare Review has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care,” said URAC President and CEO. “Quality health care is crucial to our nation’s welfare, and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards and undergo rigorous evaluation by an independent accrediting body.”
NAIRO is a member-driven, non-profit association. While URAC has developed evidence-based measures and accreditation programs for independent medical review since 1990, their charter as a standards body precludes ties to any industry-interest group.
The primary objectives of NAIRO membership are too:
Since its formation, NAIRO has assisted policy makers at both the federal and state level with position papers and analysis of issues.
NAIRO has also helped its member organizations demonstrate the value of URAC accreditation and their processes for independent medical review.
